DECEMBERFrom Thanksgiving to the New Year we are dedicated to:
GIVING MORE. Join us and give unto others, give to yourself, give graciously, give often, and consider giving the gift of theater by supporting us! |
Day 33 Days of Giving
Day 1: Give Praise: Praise to Carbondale Stage Company in Carbondale, IL for their work in the community, the help they've given us and the great performances they have created, including their current production of the holiday classic: A Christmas Carol
Day 2: Give Locally: on #SMALLBUSINESSSATURDAY think of giving gifts from local vendors, like Scratch Brewing Company in Ava, Illinois. This local business has been helping us since our start.
Day 3: Give SOUP! Recipes abound, but this is a Coconut Curry Lentil Soup in Gift Form!
Day 4: Give SMILES to everyone you know, especially while shopping this season. We encourage you to shop locally, but if you are making any purchases via Amazon, consider using this Amazon link where with every purchase you make, they will send a small donation of their money to help us.
Day 5: Give Warmth: In honor and in thanks to the opening of Carbondale's Warming Center, we encourage you to investigate which warming center is nearest you. If you then see someone in need of heat, you can give them warmth by pointing them in the right direction, and, if you can, carry an extra pair of clean, dry socks to warm others with too!
Day 6: Give Coffee: Whether you visit one of our favorite coffee shops to do so (cough Longbranch cough) or simply make a cup and bring it across the room - share a cuppa joe (or comparable hot beverage) with a human of your choice
Day 7: Give Tubas: Not a Tuba (we mean, you can, but...) enjoy Merry Tuba Christmas - trust us on this one!
Day 8: Give Crafts: So many craft fairs so little time! Things made locally though are super cool and super awesome as gifts!
Day 9: Give Theater: Give Theater and you are giving an experience, a story, a community, laughter, art, and a trip to somewhere new!
Day 10: Give Food: From our friends at Food Finders to the grocery store sponsored drive down the road, grab a canned good (or better still find out what the drive is in need of) and help the world be a little less hungry today!
Day 11: Give Shakespeare: Whether that means sharing a quote, wrapping a copy, or taking someone to see a play (or maybe even making a donation to your favorite Shakespeare company *cough*), or maybe sharing a plan on how to read all of Shakespeare in 2020. Shakespeare is everywhere - so give in to the Bard and give a gift of understanding, empathy and poetry with the magic of a gift of Shakespeare.
Day 12: Give Coats: There are lots of places that take gently used coats. If you have one that you've outgrown or have simply changed your tastes and no longer wear - find someone chilly or a place that knows of chilly someones and give a coat. Or set up a coat rack in your front yard and see what magic you can offer the world.
Day 13: Give Books: From free libraries to real libraries to the books on your shelf that you've read and are collecting dust or the books on your shelf that you might never read and are collecting dust - dust them off and wrap them up - GIVE BOOKS!
Day 14: Give Music!
Day 15: Give Outside the Box: OK, you can still find a box and wrap it, but the present doesn't need to be in the box. Give an experience or a consumable, an adventure or a class. Here are a bunch of ideas that you can give that might not be the easiest to put a bow on, but will definitely make someone's day.
Day 16: Give Dance: Take someone dancing, dance like no one is watching, dance in your socks or in your car or enjoy watching dance too. Anyone can dance! Even if you're not as flexible as The Ross Sisters, dance can still be a treat to give someone today!
Day 17: Give Cheese: Save a life give the gift of cheese (or cheese alternatives such as Vegan Mac 'n' Cheese or chees-y grins in photos).
