Staged Reading Series
Performing Shakespeare in the Park primarily means that a few months out of the year...well... performances are not quite weather appropriate. There's just so much Shakespeare though, and so many more amazing plays to explore.
In Winter of 2011/2012 we launched The Comedy Project, to explore The Comedy of Errors. We are still exploring it, but one of the best things to come out of it yet was a way for us to keep working during the Winter months: staged readings. We are dedicated to exploring each of Shakespeare's plays and will be giving them homes in active readings with professional casts throughout our tour region and beyond. Currently we are attempting to present them in the chronology of when they were written (according to Penguin Publishing...there are more theories on the chronology of Shakespeare than there are on who wrote Shakespeare...we don't claim it's correct, just something to follow). Additionally we are actively reviewing new works and other texts that share the same zest for humanity we feel Shakespeare's plays capture. As we find gems that we want to give a voice to we will be trying them out in this series to challenge ourselves and you. |
